About Us
A small indoor microgreen farm located in Mansfield Center CT. I grow microgreens for their nutritional value, flavor, quick growth, space efficiency, cost-effectiveness, customization, and educational benefits. It's a versatile and accessible way to incorporate fresh and nutritious greens into your daily diet. I grow year round. I grow a variety of microgreens, including, but not limited to: spicy salad mix(arugula, broccoli, kale, kohlrabi, cabbage, and mustard) radish, broccoli, pea shoots, sunflower shoots, superfood mix(purple kohlrabi, broccoli, radish, collard, and turnip), arugula, carrot, leeks, buckwheat, melon shoots, cilantro and basil.
Practices
The growing process for most of my greens takes two weeks, with certain microgreens taking 18(cilantro and leeks) to 45 days(basil and sorrel). I currently have two shelving racks, which allows me to grow up to 32 trays of microgreens each grow cycle, with the other space being used for trays in germination(stacking) or blackout(covered tray), or longer term crops(leek, cilantro, and basil). I control the temperature, lighting, humidity, and air flow. In essence, I take mother nature out of the picture as much as I can. I grow my GMO-free microgreens in soil and use BPA free trays, no pesticides, and well water. I am looking to expand my operation and recently applied for a grant to do so. If awarded this grant I can increase production 200%, which will allow me to also increase sales outreach.
